Since the last post I met local director Kathryn King at a movement workshop/ audition that we both attended as spectators. I pitched our show to her and she seemed interested in getting involved with Put the Book Down and the further development of 'Mine'. We arranged a meeting between myself, Doug and her and have come to the conclusion that it would be great to work with her ( She's lovely). We have also been involved as a group for a response piece of theatre at Curve in Leicester for Joe Orton's 'What the Butler Saw'. As Brighton is just a few weeks away we have been looking at 'Mine'. It's been a delicate process as we don't want to drastically change anything about the show ( what we have already , we know is working ) however there are moments where the need for lighting cues or sound effects will just add the the performance as a whole. We've added just a little bit of KK spice to the mix to create a show that's both simple yet dynamic and won't stray too far from the original performances. We will see what happens in Brighton and we want to use this short run as a test and of course to get it on its feet again before we head to a number of venues over the summer! We have been accepted by ZOO in Edinburgh to do the show every night for the month at 7pm (a perfect slot if you ask me) and will also be performing at the Oxford OffBeat Festival !!! We will also have a one off performance at Attenborough Arts Centre in June which I can't wait for as it's very local !!!
